Essay – Diwali

Diwali is my favorite festival of the year. It’s like a big party that everyone in my family and my building celebrates together. All of us children wait for it eagerly because it’s such a fun and exciting time. Diwali is also called the “Festival of Lights,” and it’s all about happiness, joy, and spreading light everywhere.

One of the best things about Diwali is the beautiful decorations. My parents always decorate our house with colorful lights, candles, and pretty rangoli designs. Rangoli is like making colorful patterns on the floor with colored powders, and it’s so much fun to help my mom make them. We use all sorts of bright colors like red, yellow, green, and blue to make our house look really pretty. I also get to make some little rangoli designs on my own, and that makes me feel really proud!

On the day of Diwali, I get to wear my new clothes, and my mom always makes sure I look my best. We visit our relatives and friends, and everyone gives each other yummy sweets and snacks. My favorite part is getting to eat all those delicious treats and chocolates. My grandma always makes the most amazing sweets, and I can never have enough of them!

But the most exciting part of Diwali for me is when we burst firecrackers. We light up sparklers and firecrackers with bright colors and loud sounds. It’s so much fun to watch the sky light up with different colors and patterns. I make sure to be safe and careful while bursting them, and my parents always remind me to never play with firecrackers alone.

Another special thing we do on Diwali is giving and receiving gifts. My parents and relatives give me toys, books, and sometimes even money, which makes me feel really happy and I keep it safely in my little piggy bank. I also give them little handmade cards or drawings to show them how much I care about them. It’s such a nice feeling to exchange gifts and see everyone smiling.

During Diwali, we also pray and visit the temple to seek blessings from God. We light up diyas, which are small oil lamps, to welcome good luck and happiness into our home. I love helping my mom and dad light up these diyas because they make our house look so magical and cozy.

Overall, Diwali is a time for togetherness, love, and joy. It’s a festival that brings everyone in our community closer and reminds us to spread happiness and kindness. I always look forward to Diwali every year because it’s a time when I get to make unforgettable memories with my family and friends. It’s truly the best festival of all!
