Healing Hands

Deep in the heart of the forest in lush green trees and vibrant flowers there lived a girl named Laura.

Laura was a warm hearted girl who was very cheerful. Anyone who was deeply troubled and could not think of what would happen next would smile immediately upon seeing her. She had a striking appearance with two lovely innocent eyes, a pretty face and an entrancing smile always pinned to her lips. Laura also had an amazing talent of curing people with herbs.

One cool autumn morning as Laura was walking through the vast dense forest she found an injured bird twittering for help. Laura immediately set to work to cure the bird. After she finished curing the bird she put it near a bunch of leaves and said there you are little birdie. Just as she turned to go, a blinding light emerged from the bird. Laura was astonished as a fairy emerged from the bird and as she watched with curiosity the beautiful fairy said my dear Laura I have watched you from the beginning. You are kind and honest and always ready to help people. I have observed you and now, I give you my gift. And the fairy opened Laura’s palms and put a small beautiful flower in it.

Laura asked eagerly, what is the name of this flower? What does this flower do? The fairy smiled and said, “Dear Laura, the name of this flower is Parijata , Lord Sri Krishna loves this flower. This flower will help you in any difficult situation. It never fades and its magic will never go if you use it wisely”. But let me warn you Laura, you should only use the flower if it is really needed or else the magic will have its own effects and saying so the fairy disappeared into thin air.

Laura returned to the part of the forest in which she lived and led a peaceful life. Several months passed, and as the season summer started, things began to change. The heat of the sun became too high too tolerate, it dried up all the rivers in the forest. The leaves started to wither. Dehydration was affecting many people. Plants also started dying and now Laura could not even find the herbs to cure the people.

Laura was very worried. She did not know what to do. Suddenly a light shone from her frock pocket. Laura took it out to see what it was. It was the flower the fairy had given her. She went out of her house and at once the flower flew out of her hand and touched the barren land and lo and behold the land which was once barren was now filled with lush green grass, the fruits started ripening, the rivers started flowing! Everything was beautiful again! Laura and her flower had saved everyone. Everyone loved and respected Laura.

What we learn from this story is that we should be kind to everyone. In return good will always happen to us.
