Chaos on the beach
It was a nice sunny day, as the sun was scorching hot. I could hear the tide whispering secrets as the wind roared powerfully, making everything fly in its path. The waves were sloshing back here as people were doing all kinds of fun things. Kids were building sandcastle kingdoms, parents were sunbathing, having a good long break from their little monsters.
As I walked on the sand, my feet started to burn; it was like running on lava. I quickly sprinted into the ice-cold, crystal-clear water. But I noticed something was off. The tides kept pulling back as there was a lot of froth.
I did not think of it as much in the start, but the water kept on getting pulled back. Then it struck me, I remembered learning in school that if there was a lot of froth and the tides were getting pulled in, then these were signs of a tsunami. I quickly tried to warn everyone, including my parents, but no one believed me. I tried telling the lifeguards, but they said that this was normal and it had happened before. Now this was a real problem. I was in a dilemma and I did not know what to do. I had two choices: wait and hope the lifeguards were right… or act, even if no one listened.
I dashed to the kiosk and got the megaphone. Then I shouted, “Everyone, please get out!” But then I abruptly heard a piercing scream — not at me, but there was a huge wave on the horizon! “It’s real!” Suddenly, there was chaos everywhere. Parents were scooping their children from the water, people stampeding out of the sand to their cars, and there was huge traffic to go out. As the huge wave got closer, my family and I decided it was best to move to higher ground, so we went on top of a skyscraper since we ran, and the skyscraper was only one block down. We saw the horrible tsunami strike our city below, demolishing everything in its path. It literally gulped everything it saw, like a lion gulping its food down very fast. I felt very bad for all the people who suffered from the damage of the tsunami.
After hours of waiting, the tsunami waves finally let go, but it had done some devastating damage to the residents who lived nearby. Even our cars were washed away like shells on a beach. After some time, the SOS and the emergency rescuers came to clear the chaos. They told us that we would get insurance for the damage, and the emergency rescuers took us to a high hill where other people who were affected gathered. I hated the tsunami so much; it destroyed everything.
