Lazy John and the Apples
John was terribly lazy. One hot day, he was lying under an apple tree, too tired even to move.
He saw the branches heavy with big, red apples just above him. John thought, “I wish one would fall right into my mouth. Then I wouldn’t have to get up.”
He waited… and waited. But no apple fell.
At last, hungry and annoyed John groaned, “Why don’t apples fall when you want them to?”
A breeze blew and finally one apple tumbled down and landed near him. But it rolled just out of reach.
Too lazy to stretch out and grab it, John went hungry.
Moral – Laziness keeps you from even the simplest rewards.
