The Origin Of Rockfish
Years ago, while creating the world, God was placing rocks on a beach. After several years, He noticed that one rock had never left the water. Curious, He tried to pick it up and move it elsewhere. But to His surprise, the rock moved on its own and swam into the depths of the ocean. Shocked, He turned to His beloved Water and asked, “What is this? Do you know what this is, Water?”
“Yes, My God! I created it. What should we name it?” Water replied.
“I’m not sure, Dear. Let’s ask Sand!” God suggested.
When Sand heard the story, he thought for a moment and said, “Hmm. It looks like a rock! Let’s call it Rockfish!”
“Yes!” agreed Water and God in unison.
Millions of years later, humans discovered this creature and accepted the name Rockfish. However, they also gave it a scientific name: Sebastes.
