Our Earth – The Voice of the Trees

Oh! What just happened to me?

When I woke up, it was Monday, April 25—Earth Day. I went outside, and suddenly there was a thunderclap. I was now in a forest. I went deeper and deeper into the darkness of the forest. Suddenly, I saw a house.

I went closer to it, and suddenly another thunderclap struck. At the door of the house, the door opened. Inside, there were shelves full of books, but one of the books was glowing. When I touched the book, suddenly there was a loud thunderclap. I ran to the door, opened it, and started to run outside—but again, I was in front of the book.

I ran back, but again I was in front of the book. I understood that I was stuck in a loop. I then touched the book again, and the thunder was louder than before. I understood that the thunder was scaring me.

Finally, I opened the book without any fear. Suddenly, the character in the book started speaking to me: “Don’t cut me.” Again, “Don’t cut me.”

I was in shock, and I said, “What should I not cut?”

The character said, “Don’t cut trees.”

I said, “But what is the problem if I cut trees?”

“If you cut trees, it will harm your environment. Everything will be destroyed, and you will not be able to breathe fresh air because of car pollution and factories outdoors.”

I said, “So what should we do, Mr. Book?”

He said, “People should avoid using cars too much and use bicycles for nearby places. Always throw trash in bins. Don’t burn fossil fuels. It is causing our ozone layer to break, which is causing too much heat.”

Suddenly, my mother said, “Wake up!”

I said, “Where is Mr. Book?”

My mother said, “No one is here except you and me.”

I understood that it was a dream, but I promised in my heart that I would take care of the Earth.
