Essay – Be Patient

The thrill of any first time writers or authors is there first cheque in the mail. After working hard to compose a story, a small reward can be overwhelming.

Just the previous week, the postman rang the doorbell. He had brought me my third cheque this month. I complimented him to a cup of tea and chocolate biscuits.

Insects and thieves, I may not prefer but postmen are always welcome in my house. For any person associated with literary works, their doors are always open to postmen. The postmen are kind, humble people. But once a famous poet from South India had not received his cheque and presumed that the publishers had betrayed him. But the cheque was stolen by the postman himself.

Stealing of trust too, I must say that act of stealing was.

After many similar incidents of disappearance of many things, he was replaced by a new smartly dressed and combed postman from New Delhi who had a paan- stained mouth and spat everywhere littering the surroundings badly.

Be it a fee or a lump sump of money, it excites writers a lot. But one must keep calm and be patient. Excitement leads to impatience and impatience leads to lose something you had already won. If you are impatient, you won’t be able to think properly for any new, fresh and diverse plot for constructing a story.

One must think about writing which; in itself is a special art and not just about the benefits.

There is a wise saying “ The thing you want with all your heart, will never arrive you”.

Negative Vibes!!!

But a true saying, I must admit. I wholeheartedly sent a short story to last month to The bombay Literary magazine. But unfortunately, I was badly rejected by them.

But whatever happens, rejection or selection we must BE PATIENT in all walks of life.
