Dew – The Little Ant

Once upon a time, there lived a very young but curious little ant called Dew. He would always run to his garden, climb up on a blade of grass, and tell himself, “I wish I had my own cozy shed to be safe from the rain.”

One day, when he stood up on the leaf, little Dew saw a small girl holding a big blue umbrella to protect her from the sprinkle of rain. Dew thought for a second or two and said, “Maybe I can make a tiny umbrella for myself and protect myself from the sprinkle of rain!”

A spark lit up in his ant-sized brain. So Dew started searching for the perfectly sized leaf — not too small, not too big, and not rotten. Then he found the perfect leaf and said, “This is the best one!”

Dew tried to lift the leaf with all his might. After all, he was just a kid. Then he had an idea! Dew went back to his colony and asked his two friends, Fred and Maya, for help. They both followed Dew, and when Dew explained his plan, all three of them started working on the leaf-umbrella.

Maya said, “Great plan!”
Fred told him, “I’m in!”

Maya and Fred helped Dew bring the leaf to his favorite big green garden. When Maya and Fred said they had to go, Dew told himself, “It’s time to make this umbrella.”

He started striving, sticking, and stitching. He was so tired—but guess what? He wasn’t done yet! He was nibbling at the end of the apex, and soon, his tiny mini umbrella was just perfect!!!!

So little Dew carried it out. Suddenly, sparkles of rain fell right around Dew and on his leaf umbrella. Dew was so happy when the raindrops fell smoothly on his invention!

Dew didn’t make this umbrella just for himself but also for Maya and Fred.
