The Camel, The Jackal and The Lion

Once upon a time, deep in the heart of a jungle, lived a powerful lion. He was the king of the forest and was always accompanied by his loyal followers, a clever jackal and a strong leopard. One day, while exploring the desert at the edge of the jungle, they found a camel that had lost its way.

The jackal said, “Let’s kill and eat him!”

But the lion shook his head. “No. He is my guest now. As long as he stays in my jungle, no one shall harm him.”

So, the camel was brought into the jungle and became part of the lion’s group. He was kind and peaceful and the lion liked his gentle nature.

But soon, the lion was badly injured in a fight with a wild elephant and couldn’t hunt. Days passed and everyone was hungry. The jackal and the leopard whispered among themselves, “We must eat that camel. But how do we convince the lion?”

So, they came up with a plan.

They went to the lion and said, “O mighty one, we are loyal to you. Let us offer ourselves for your meal.” One by one, the jackal and the leopard stepped forward and pretended to sacrifice themselves, knowing the lion would refuse.

Then the camel, touched by their loyalty, said innocently, “If they can offer themselves, so can I. Please eat me and stay alive.”

The moment he said it, the jackal and the leopard pounced. Before the camel could react, they attacked and killed him.

The lion was heartbroken but too weak to stop them.

Moral – Never trust selfish companions even if they appear loyal.
