Essay – Noise Pollution

Hey everyone!

Have you ever been trying to read a really good book or maybe play your favourite video game and then suddenly BLAM! a loud car horn goes off right outside your window? Or maybe your neighbour starts playing a Bollywood song at loud music when you are trying to study in the afternoon. Yeah, that happens to me a lot and it’s kind of annoying! This loud stuff all around us is what is called “noise pollution” and it’s something I’ve been thinking about.

Noise pollution is basically when there’s too much loud, unwanted sound in the environment. It’s not just about things being a little loud but it’s about sounds that are so loud or constant that they bother us and can even be bad for us. Our building is next to a busy road, so I hear cars and trucks zooming by all the time. Sometimes construction workers are working and their machines are super loud. Even in the park people play music really loud on their speakers. It’s like our ears never get a break!

My mom says that too much noise can even make it hard to sleep. I know sometimes when I’m trying to fall asleep, I can still hear cars and it keeps me awake. Imagine trying to do your homework with a really loud speakers blaring music downstairs – it would be impossible!

And it’s not just us humans who are affected. I learned in science class that animals also suffer from noise pollution. Birds might have trouble hearing each other’s calls, and some animals get scared away from their homes because of constant loud sounds. It makes me a bit sad to think about.

So, what can we do about all this noise? Well, it’s a big problem, but even small things can help. Maybe people could try to use less noisy machines or construction companies could work during hours when most people aren’t sleeping. We could also plant more trees, because trees can actually help block some sound. And for us kids, maybe we can just remember to keep our own voices down sometimes, especially if we’re playing loudly near someone who needs quiet.

I really hope that as I get older, our world becomes a bit quieter and calmer. It would be nice to be able to enjoy the sounds of birds chirping or just the peaceful quiet, without so many annoying loud noises. Noise pollution is a real thing, and it’s something we should all try to make less of.
