Book Review – Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

Hi everyone! I just finished reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling. And oh my goodness, it’s probably the best book I’ve ever read! Seriously, if you haven’t read it you definitely NEED to.

So the story is about this boy called Harry Potter who lives with his really mean aunt and uncle and his super spoilt cousin Dudley. Harry’s life is pretty rubbish, he lives in a cupboard under the stairs and never gets anything nice. But then on his eleventh birthday everything changes! He finds out he’s a wizard and is going to a magic school called Hogwarts. How cool is that?!

I loved all the magic stuff, like the spells and the potions. And the characters are brilliant. Harry is really brave and his new friends are Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Both of them are so funny and important to the story. Ron is a bit clumsy and always hungry but he’s super loyal and makes you laugh a lot. Hermione knows everything about everything which is sometimes annoying because she’s always quoting rules but she’s also super helpful when they’re in a tricky situation. They get into loads of trouble together but they always stick together and help each other out which is what real friends do!

The best bits were definitely when they first get to Hogwarts and you see all the amazing things there like the Great Hall with the floating candles and the moving staircases. It made me wish I could go there! And the Quidditch match was so exciting it’s like football but on broomsticks!

The bad guy is a super villain wizard Voldemort. He is really scary even though you don’t see him much in this book. There’s a big mystery about the Philosopher’s Stone and Harry and his friends have to figure it out before it’s too late. It kept me guessing right until the end.

I think this book is great for anyone who loves adventure and magic. It’s really easy to read and not quite long, you just want to know what happens next. I’ve already told all my friends about it and I can’t wait to read the next one!

P.S. Even if you have watched the movie, do read the book. They are so many things missing in the movie.

Definitely a five-star read! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
