Unity Is Strength

Long ago, in a peaceful forest, there lived a flock of doves. They were led by a wise and kind dove named Chitragreeva. Every morning, the doves would fly out together in search of food. They always stayed close and helped one another. Their unity made them strong and safe from predators.

One day, the doves flew over a new part of the forest. From high above, they saw some rice grains scattered on the ground. Hungry and excited, they flew down quickly. But as soon as they landed and began pecking at the grains, they heard a snap!

They had walked into a hunter’s trap!

Strong nets sprang up from the ground and trapped all the doves. The more they tried to escape, the more tangled they got. Panic spread through the flock.

“Oh no! We are caught! What will we do now?” cried one dove.

“We should have been more careful,” said another.

But Chitragreeva remained calm. “Do not panic, my friends,” he said. “We are not helpless. If we try to escape alone, we will fail. But if we flap our wings together, in unity, we can lift the net and fly away.”

The doves listened to their leader. On his count, all the doves flapped their wings together with full strength. To their surprise, the net slowly rose off the ground. Together, they carried the net into the sky and flew away.

The hunter, who had been hiding nearby, was shocked to see his trap flying through the air! He ran after the doves, but they were too fast for him.

The doves flew far away from the hunter’s reach. They landed in a quiet part of the forest where lived Chitragreeva’s good friend, a clever mouse named Hiranyaka.

Hiranyaka saw the trapped birds and immediately came running. “What happened, dear Chitragreeva?” he asked.

Chitragreeva explained the whole story. The kind mouse nodded and said “Don’t worry. I will help you.”

With his sharp teeth, Hiranyaka began gnawing at the ropes of the net. One by one, he cut through the bindings and freed all the doves. The doves were filled with joy and thanked the mouse.

Chitragreeva turned to his flock and said “See, my friends, today we escaped the trap not because of strength, but because of unity. If we had tried to free ourselves one by one, we would still be trapped. But because we acted together, we flew to safety.”

The doves cheered and promised to always stay united.

From that day onward, the doves became a symbol of unity in the forest. The animals would often tell their story to their young ones as a lesson.

Moral: Unity is Strength.
