Ruskin Bond – The Pioneer of Children’s literature in India
Ruskin Bond is one among the finest chronicler of children’s literature in India. He was born on 19th May 1934 in Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh. His father, A.A Bond worked for the royal british airforce.
Except for three years in Jersey and the Channel Islands, Ruskin bond has spent all his life in India.
He is the author to over 164 titles, including 515 short stories, 3 novellas and two autobiographies. He has mostly written for children, till date. One his famous quotations is,
‘’Happiness is a mysterious thing; to be found
Between two little and two much’’.
He published his first novel, ‘’The Room One the Roof ’’, when he was 17. He was awarded the prestigious John Llewhyn Rhys price for the same.
Some of his famouse books are, ‘’The Blue Umbrella’’, ‘’The Road To The Bazaar’’, and, ‘’Tales From My heart’’. His latest book, ‘’A Handful Of Nuts, is capturing hearts.
He moved to Ivy Cottage In 1980 and since, then lives there with his extended family,
