My Visit To The Zoo – Essay
Last weekend we visited the Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Udyan and Zoo also known as Byculla Zoo. Our teacher told us before the summer vacation that the zoo will be getting the rare blackbuck and they have some baby penguins as well. So I pestered my parents for a visit to the zoo. The last time I visited to the zoo was during a school picnic in our third grade.
We went to the zoo on a Saturday morning. The weather was hot and humid, as we entered I saw big green trees, colourful flowers and many families with little kids. It felt like a picnic spot and a zoo all in one!
First we walked around and saw deer, monkeys and some beautiful birds. But I was waiting for the two animals I was most excited about, the blackbuck and the penguin.
We reached the area where the blackbuck were kept. I could see only one, I loved their long twisted horns and shiny brown and white coats. They looked like they had jumped right out of a wildlife documentary. The blackbuck was moving around peacefully.
Then we made our way to the penguin enclosure. I was surprised to see so many people there. The penguins were kept in a special cool area that looked like their natural home. When I saw them for the first time, I couldn’t believe my eyes! They were so cute and funny. Some were swimming and others were waddling around like little kids in black and white suits. I had only seen penguins on TV before and in the Madagascar movie. So seeing them so close was like a dream come true.
We spent almost four hours at the zoo. Before leaving, we sat down near the garden area and ate sandwiches and juice. The only animal that I could not see was the Lion. There was a big notice saying that the Lions would be coming soon.
I kept looking through the photos we had clicked of the blackbuck, penguins and the other animals. I learned so much about animals and their habitats and I felt really happy to see that the zoo is taking care of them properly. I hope to visit again and maybe even bring my cousins next time!
