Essay – My Favourite Author Sudha Murthy
My dearest friends are books and Sudha Murthy is one writer who has had a profound emotional impact on me. Her stories are straightforward, profound and brimming with life lessons which makes her my favourite author. Every time I read one of her books, I have the impression that I’m listening to a wise grandma grin warmly while she tells me stories of enchantment.
There is more to Sudha Murthy than just writing. In addition, she is an engineer, a teacher, and a humanitarian who aids a lot of underprivileged people. As the chairperson of the Infosys Foundation, she dedicates her time to improving the world. That is really motivating, in my opinion!
The first book I read by her was “Grandma’s Bag of Stories.” It had so many wonderful tales that taught me about kindness, honesty and bravery. I loved how each story had a lesson but it was never boring. It felt like I was part of the village, sitting beside my own grandmother and other children. Since then, I have read many of her books like “The Magic Drum,” “The Bird with Golden Wings” and “The Serpent’s Revenge.”
What I like most about Sudha Murthy is that her language is simple and easy to understand. Even though the stories are short, they leave a big impact on my heart. They are based on Indian culture, history and real life experiences. She makes even ordinary people look like heroes, which makes me believe that anyone can do something great.
These stories make me think about how lucky I am and remind me to be kind and helpful to others. I hope that one day I can meet Sudha Murthy in real life and tell her how much I love her books. She is not just my favourite author, but also someone I look up to. She has taught me that good stories can make a big difference and even small acts of kindness matter a lot.
