Essay – Children’s Day
Children’s Day in India is a special celebration just for kids! Every year on 14th November, we celebrate this day to honor Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru who was our country’s first Prime Minister. Pandit Nehru loved children and believed they were the future of India. He used to say, “The children of today will make the India of tomorrow.”
In our school, Children’s Day is celebrated with fun events and programs. The teachers sometimes surprise us by performing skits or dances, and it’s fun to see them acting in funny ways. Last year, our principal even dressed up as Chacha Nehru, with a red rose pinned to his jacket, which made everyone laugh! We also get to act as teachers, police, doctors and other adult jobs. It’s like where the entire world is run by children. It feels nice to have a day dedicated to us where we can laugh, play, and enjoy without too many studies.
It’s not only a day for fun but also a day to think about our responsibilities. We are the future, and one day, we will grow up to be the doctors, engineers, artists, scientists, and leaders of our country. Just as Nehruji said, the future of India lies in our hands. So, while we enjoy the celebrations, we also remember to study hard, be good citizens, and treat everyone kindly.
Children’s Day is also a day when we remember that all children should be safe, happy, and healthy. Not every child is as lucky as we are, though. There are children who can’t go to school, who have to work at a young age, or who don’t have enough food and a safe place to stay. Pandit Nehru believed every child deserved to be happy and cared for, and on this day, many people try to do something kind for children who need help. Some people donate clothes or toys, and others volunteer or organize events for children from underprivileged backgrounds. This reminds us to be thankful for what we have and to help others.
This is why Children’s Day is such a special day for me. It reminds me that being a child is precious, and it inspires me to be the best version of myself so I can contribute to our country in the future.
