Essay on Samvidhan Diwas (Constitution Day of India)
Every year on 26th November, we celebrate Samvidhan Diwas, also known as Constitution Day. This day is very special for our country because it marks the adoption of the Constitution of India in the year 1949. The Constitution came into effect on 26th January 1950, which we celebrate as Republic Day.
The Indian Constitution serves as our country’s legal code. It outlines the rights of people, how our nation should function, and the obligations we have. It is the world’s longest written constitution! The father of the Indian Constitution, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, provided direction during its writing.
Many great leaders and members of the Constituent Assembly worked very hard for almost 2 years and 11 months to complete it.
On Samvidhan Diwas, schools, colleges and government offices organize programs to remind everyone of the values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. We also read the Preamble of the Constitution, which begins with the famous words “We, the people of India…”. These words show that the power of our country lies in its people.
Celebrating Samvidhan Diwas teaches us the value of becoming responsible citizens. It teaches us to respect our rights and fulfil our responsibilities. The Constitution not only guarantees us freedom but also instructs us to live in unity and respect everyone, regardless of religion, language, or heritage.
As a student, I feel proud to be part of a country that has such a strong and fair Constitution. Samvidhan Diwas inspires me to be a good citizen and contribute to the progress of our nation.
