Essay – How I Would Spend My Christmas Vacation
Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year, and I always imagine how I’d like to spend my vacation in the most fun and meaningful way. Living in India makes Christmas extra special because we celebrate it with a mix of traditional customs and our unique Indian touch.
First, I would start by decorating our home with paper stars, colorful fairy lights and a small Christmas tree. It would make our house look festive and welcoming.
During the vacation, I want to spend time baking with my family. My mom’s plum cake is the best and I’d love to help her this year by mixing the batter and sneaking in some extra raisins (my favorite part!). But the best sweet that I love is Kal Kal. My friends also love the Kal Kal that my mom make, so this year we are going to make a ton of it.
Another thing I’d love to do is visit my grandparents in Goa, where Christmas is celebrated in such a grand way. My grandparents local church in their village is always beautifully lit. The midnight Mass on Christmas Eve feels so peaceful and special. Walking through the streets filled with cribs, lights always feel magical.
One of my wishes for this Christmas is to do something kind for others. Sharing the joy of Christmas with people who may not have much would make my vacation feel even more meaningful.
Of course I also want to have fun with my friends. I am planning to organize a small Christmas party at my house with games, music and lots of food. I’d love to play cricket in the park with them or even go cycling around the neighborhood to look at all the decorated homes.
On Christmas morning I’d like to wake up early and open gifts under the tree. Even though I know my parents are the real “Santa” it’s always exciting to see what they’ve chosen for me. Later, I’d enjoy a big Christmas lunch with my family which my Nana and Mom makes like biryani, roast chicken and of course plenty of desserts!
This is how I want to spend my Christmas vacation this year. It should be filled with joy, laughter, love and the true spirit of giving. I hope it turns out to be as wonderful as I imagine!
