Wish in the Woods
Once upon a time, in a village, there lived a large group of farmers. They were worried because wild animals from the nearby forest were spoiling their crops and eating them all. As a result, the villagers and farmers did not have enough food to eat.
So, the villagers and farmers held a meeting. One farmer said, “Let us put up fences near the forest so the animals cannot come. Let us also keep some food aside for the monkeys from our farms.”
All the villagers agreed and said, “That’s a good idea!”
The next morning, a group of villagers and farmers set out toward the forest. As they walked deeper inside, many animals attacked them, but the farmers bravely drove them away. They wandered for almost ten days, searching for a way to come out of the forest.
One day, they came across a large group of trees that had eyes, noses, and mouths. The trees spoke, “You are a large group of humans, brave and confident. We will ask you a riddle. If you answer it correctly, you may pass.”
The trees asked, “Who is this creature that crawls when small and flies when it grows big?”
The farmers thought for some time and then replied, “A butterfly!”
The trees smiled and said, “You are right. You are worthy of this magical stone. It will fulfil your every wish — but not bad wishes, such as hurting helpless or weak creatures.”
The trees continued, “We will help you find your way out of the forest. Follow the blue light that will guide you.”
Then they added, “You may say the magic words — Oh dear stone, please fulfil my wish! — and state the wish you want granted.”
The villagers thanked the trees and continued their journey. When they reached the edge of the forest, they decided to try the magic stone. They said together, “Oh dear stone, please fulfil our wish! We wish to have enough food to eat and that the animals may not destroy our crops.”
Suddenly, a bright flashing light appeared, and a voice came from the stone, saying, “I will fulfil your wish.”
From that day onward, the villagers and farmers lived peacefully, caring for nature and protecting it. They kept the magical stone safely in the Village Head’s home.
Moral: With courage, kindness, and patience, we can solve any problems.
