The Mystery Of Rakkas : The Tiger

On a windy night in Vellore, a small village in South India, a big tiger named Rakkas prowled near the edge of the jungle. The villagers called him Rakkas because he was so sneaky, often taking sheep and goats from their farms. Everyone wondered why Rakkas didn’t hunt deer or other animals in the forest like other tigers. Well, there was a special story behind it!

When Rakkas was a tiny cub, he lived with his mother in the jungle near Vellore. But when he was just one year old, a hunter took his mother away, leaving Rakkas all alone. Scared and hungry, the little tiger learned to survive by sneaking into the village for food. As he grew bigger, he became bolder, sometimes scaring people by coming too close. The villagers were worried and didn’t know what to do.

One day, the village held a big meeting. “We need to catch Rakkas before he causes more trouble!” they said. They offered a prize of one thousand rupees to anyone who could safely trap the tiger. A brave man named Rajan stepped up with his team. “We’ll catch Rakkas!” he promised.

Rajan and his team explored the jungle and found Rakkas’s paw prints near a stream. They decided it was the perfect spot for a clever trap. First, they asked the forest rangers for help to ensure everything was safe. Then, they built a big cage hidden in the bushes. They placed a wooden board tied to a rope that held up the cage door inside the cage. At the back, they put a friendly goat to attract Rakkas. If the tiger stepped on the board, the rope would pull, and the door would snap shut! They even tied jingly bells to the cage to let everyone know when Rakkas was caught.

That night, the village was quiet, and everyone listened closely. Around midnight, Rakkas smelled the goat and crept toward the cage. He was super smart and sniffed from danger, but his tummy was too hungry to wait. He stepped inside, and clunked! His paw hit the board, the rope pulled, and the door slammed shut. Jingle, jingle! The bells rang loudly!

Rajan, his team, the forest rangers, and the villagers ran to the cage. There was Rakkas, pacing inside, his golden eyes shining in the moonlight. “We did it!” Rajan cheered, and the villagers clapped happily.

The next morning, everyone gathered to decide what to do with Rakkas. Some said, “He’s too wild!” but others felt sorry for him. “He only came to the village because he lost his mom,” they said. After a long talk, they agreed to send Rakkas to a zoo where he’d be safe and cared for. The rangers carefully moved him to a truck, and off he went to his new home.

That night, the villagers sat together, talking about Rakkas and his mother. They realized he wasn’t a bad tiger, just a lonely one who missed his family. For the first time in ages, they slept peacefully, dreaming of a village where people and animals could live without fear.
