How The Four Seasons Were Created
Once upon a time there was a man named Caleb, he lived in the wonderful land of Summer Kingdom. Everyone there was supposed to be happy, but they weren’t. Caleb was unhappy too. Although it’s always warm there, it also gets too hot sometimes. He was hot and tired, sweating in bed, wondering if there would ever be an end to this scorching hot weather. However, he couldn’t pout all day, as he had chores to do. He trudged out of bed to the nearest fruit market. “Can I have 4 apples?,” he groaned. The store owner popped his head out. He could sense Caleb was tired, and whispered a secret. After that, Caleb’s eyes went wide. “Really?” Caleb said back. The store owner slightly nodded his head. He had told Caleb the way to find different climates.
Then, instead of feeling sorry for himself, he now knew how to stop the pain. He sprinted to the palace only to be stopped by giant guards. “Please, I need to see the king,” Caleb said. The guards looked at each other and shook their heads. It seemed like this plan wouldn’t work, but by sheer luck, the king was right behind. “Do you have an offer,” the king said, “ I might accept.” “No, a quest.” Caleb responded. “Very well, explain it to me.” After that, he told the king everything about the three climate islands, and how he would get there. The king seemed fascinated, and drew out a map with all the details Caleb gave him. “I’ll give you a boat, this map, or whatever, get this hotness over with. You have a deal!” He shouted. Caleb smiled slightly. He went off to the boat the king had given him, said good-bye to his mom, and sailed away.
The boat ride was long, but he eventually made it to the first island: Forest Of Rain. He slowly and carefully walked into the jungle. He was afraid of challenges that would come on this mission. Caleb was getting scraped by branches and was tripping on many roots, he was about to give up, until all of a sudden, a creature called the ape showed up in front of him, swinging from vine to vine. Then, the ape led him onto a path, while Caleb took the giant risk of following a random animal. In the end though, it all paid off, as the ape had brought him straight to a tree stump in the exact center of the island. He sat down and opened the bottle. Weather and particles came flying in, and when it was at about a third of the bottle, he closed it. Caleb glanced at his boat, but it wasn’t there. It had floated away, but he wasn’t worried. Next to him there was thin wire, he put it on his feet, and jumped to the next island. That was the invention of the item “Spring” and also how the name of the season was created. He flew swiftly onto the next island, a very long ride, but he was good in the air.
Next, he landed on Snowyland, where he was freezing. He could tell this would be the hardest island, simply because he hadn’t thought to prepare for this cold climate, as he had never felt it on his homeland. He couldn’t give up, so he was going to have to stick through it. He looked around, and realized that the middle of the island was on the summit of a mountain, but he had prepared for that. Caleb already had a rope and hiking boots on, he set up, and soon after, started climbing. One foot after the other, he repeated that again and again. When he had reached the top, and opened the bottle, snow and clumps of ice went in. Caleb was shivering, but he couldn’t sit for a second, as the mountain started rumbling. He was about halfway down when snow piled up to a big ball and came tumbling down. There was an avalanche. It was windy, and a wonder. Caleb wanted to look at the amazing occurrence, but he couldn’t. Caleb tightened the rope, and jumped. He had made it down the mountain. He had to think fast so he took two words describing the avalanche, “Windy and Wonder” and formed them into the new name of this season, Winter. As islands combined later on in time, this became Mount Everest.
Luckily, the new island was yards away from the previous one, so he slid off a piece of ice and glided onto safety. It was in the middle of both islands’ temperatures he went to that day, and things were falling apart. Rapidly, leaves were being separated from each other, tree to ground. He had only seen green leaves in his life, but these were red, orange, and yellow. This was cool, and they were falling to the ground, so he decided to name this season fall, like the leaves. After that, the walk to the center was actually peaceful, and a relaxing area for Caleb. In the middle, he saw a floating leaf, indicating that he had made it. He opened the bottle, and this time, allowed it to be full. Since he had just done a big circle, he could see the whole community in Summer Kingdom waiting for him. A boat sailed over and brought him to his land.
He had a podium waiting for him, in what looked like a festival. They had celebrated him, Caleb felt honored. He told them the challenges each island brought, and how he named all of them. “Is everyone ready?” He asked at the end of his speech. There was a deafening “YES” by the crowd, and with that, Caleb opened the bottle. Particles flew out of it, and there started the never-ending cycle of the season, and the Kingdom was renamed to Seasonland. This solved everyone’s problem with the heat. As the Earth grew, this land split into the seven continents, and is now all over the world. No one remembers this hero from our weather rotation, but we really should. This is how the four seasons were created.
