Gaplu and Chickoo’s Secret Room Adventure
On a bright and sunny morning, in the midst of their school holidays, young Gaplu decided to visit his best friend, Chickoo, at his house. The two friends, full of curiosity and energy, set out to explore every nook and cranny of Chickoo’s sprawling family home. As they wandered through the familiar rooms, laughing and chatting, they stumbled upon something unexpected—a door they had never noticed before. Tucked away in a dimly lit corner of the house, the door stood out with its rusty hinges and thick layers of cobwebs that draped across it like a forgotten curtain. A thin veil of dust covered the surface, hinting that it had been untouched for years. The air around it felt strangely still, and the boys’ excitement grew as they realized it was locked tight.
Determined to uncover the mystery, Gaplu and Chickoo began searching everywhere for a way to open it. They rummaged through drawers, peeked under furniture, and even checked behind old paintings, but the key remained elusive. After a while, Chickoo grew tired, his enthusiasm waning under the weight of their fruitless efforts. However, Gaplu’s spirits remained high, and with a hopeful grin, he encouraged his friend to keep looking. Their persistence paid off when, after moving an old, dusty rug, Gaplu finally discovered two keys hidden beneath it. One key gleamed with a rich golden hue, while the other shone with a cool silver tone—both promising a solution to the locked door.
Eager to proceed, the boys decided to test the golden key first. Gaplu inserted it into the lock with trembling hands, but, despite their efforts, it wouldn’t turn. Undeterred, they switched to the silver key, hoping for better luck. To their delight, the door creaked open with a soft click, revealing a narrow passageway that led downward. However, their joy was short-lived, as they realized the door didn’t fully unlock the mystery—it only revealed a new challenge. As they stepped closer, they noticed a tiled floor that seemed to shift slightly under their weight. With a cautious push, the tile gave way, accompanied by a sharp, cracking sound that echoed through the passage. The tile lifted to expose a hidden ladder descending into the darkness below.
Bravely, the boys climbed down, the rusty ladder groaning under their weight. As they reached the bottom, they were greeted by an astonishing sight: a small chamber illuminated by the faint glow of 110 gold coins scattered across the floor. Among the treasure stood a peculiar statue of a spiderweb, intricately carved and seemingly guarding the riches. The boys carefully cleaned the dusty ladder and the surrounding area, revealing yet another surprise—a statue of a headless Mahakali, the fierce goddess, adding an eerie yet fascinating element to their discovery. Inspired, they decided to perform a small puja (ritual) to honor the space, placing the coins in a neat pile as an offering.
Their adventure deepened when they uncovered another hidden compartment. This time, they found 210 more gold coins, bringing their total to an impressive 320. The last of their findings included an additional 211 gold coins, making the final count 531 gold coins in all. Overwhelmed by their success, the boys sat down to marvel at their treasure. They began to wonder how they should handle such a find and decided to share their discovery with their parents. Gathering the coins, they climbed back up the ladder and rushed home to show their families.
When the parents heard the story and saw the gold, they were both amazed and cautious. They accompanied the boys back to the mysterious door, but, unlike their children, they chose not to open it. Perhaps wary of the unknown, or respecting the sanctity of the find, they decided to leave it undisturbed, locking the secret away once more. The children, though disappointed, were also happy to have shared the experience with their parents, who praised their bravery and curiosity.
