Diya’s Assam Journey : A Dream Come True

Diya always wished to go to Assam, but her parents did not let her go with her family because they had some work to complete. She was free, as she had finished all her homework. Every day, she begged her parents, troubling them. At night, after having dinner, she went to sleep after saying good night to her parents. She dreamed of being in Assam.

In her dream, she saw a shop and found the Muga silk and an embroidered dress called Mekhla chador. She touched and felt it, and it was a little rough. When a woman saw Diya, she spoke in Assamese, but Diya did not understand it as she knew only Hindi. Diya was very happy because she realized she was in Assam. She asked the woman in Hindi, “Can I take this Mekhla chador, please?” The woman replied in Assamese, “Yes.” After taking the Mekhla chador, Diya was walking around joyfully when she saw a pepa, a traditional musical instrument made of buffalo horn. She tried it for the first time and enjoyed playing it.

Next, she visited a silk house called Chang Ghar and said she wanted to see the tortoise. Afterward, she felt hungry and had lunch, eating akhar with dal and fish, which she enjoyed. In the evening, she went to a tea plantation, where she plucked tea leaves into a big basket because her parents loved drinking tea. She then visited Manas National Park to see animals and enjoyed the playground. She also went to another famous park called Kaziranga National Park, where she saw a lungun stork and different types of monkeys. Suddenly, she woke up—it was all a dream! Later, when her parents finished their work and told her they were going to Assam, Diya excitedly shared her dream with them. Happily, they all went to Assam as a family, and her dream came true.
