The Jackal And The Drum

Once, in a forest near a deserted battlefield, lived a hungry jackal. He hadn’t eaten in days and was wandering around looking for food.

As he roamed near the edge of the battlefield, he suddenly heard a loud, thumping sound:
“Dum… Dum… Dum!”

The jackal was frightened.
“What could that be?” he thought.
“Is there a dangerous animal hiding there?”

At first, he wanted to run away. But then he paused and said to himself,
“Let me not jump to conclusions. I should check what it really is. It might not be dangerous after all.”

Carefully and quietly, he crept toward the sound. As he peeked through the bushes, he saw something unexpected. A large drum lying on the ground, whenever the wind blew a branch hit the drum making the loud noise.

The jackal sighed in relief.
“Ah! It’s only a drum. Nothing to fear!”

He sniffed around and found that soldiers had left food scraps nearby. Happily, he ate and filled his empty stomach.

Moral – Do not fear the unknown. Investigate calmly since things may not be as scary as they seem.
