The Foolish Weaver
Long ago, in a small village, there lived a weaver. He made beautiful cloth, but he was still poor because he worked all alone.
One day, the wooden frame of his loom broke. “Oh no! How will I work now?” he sighed. So, he went into the forest to find strong wood for repairs.
He found a big, sturdy tree and was about to cut it when a bright, magical figure appeared. It was a Yaksha, a forest spirit!
“Please don’t cut my home,” said the Yaksha kindly. “If you spare this tree, I will give you anything you wish for.”
The weaver was very excited and ran home to ask his wife. She thought for a while and said,
“If you had two heads you could think more, and if you had four arms you could work faster. Then we will become very rich!”
The weaver thought this was a great idea. He went back to the Yaksha and asked for two heads and four arms.
The Yaksha granted his wish instantly. The weaver looked down and gasped—he really did have two heads and four arms!
But when he walked into the village, people screamed, “A monster! A demon!” Without listening to his explanation, they chased him with sticks and stones. Sadly, the poor weaver lost his life that day.
Moral : Think carefully before you wish for something. Foolish ideas can lead to big trouble.
