Journalism With a Happy Touch – Silent Reflection
One little thing that gave me joy recently was getting a glimpse of childhood fun and connecting it with my present passion.
I was returning after giving my Social Science exam with my mum on Thursday (26/2).
It went really well, and I was happy about it, so we decided to grab something to eat!
We stopped by a snack store. I saw a stall with many magazines—on the very top was a children’s magazine, with a sign on the stand saying, “Journalism with a happy touch” (as far as I can recall).
Acting as an inspiration, it reminded me of the times I used to read magazines like Champak or Reader’s Digest at home or in the school library.
It also reminded me that I have recently started submitting digital entries to kids’ publishing sites.
The sentence on the sign created a spark, and I decided to buy the children’s magazine—the one I first noticed: Magic Pot, a weekly magazine for little children.
I flipped through its pages at home.
To be very honest, it wasn’t quite the style I longed for, like in Champak (probably due to the difference in target audiences for both magazines).
But it was really nice to see the colourful visuals, activities, and especially the page where many kids had sent their drawings and short introductions about themselves to the editor of the magazine.
Both their drawings and work were published, and it felt really inspiring to see such young kids being so interactive through literary magazines.
Thus, it’s a really cool and sweet collectible for me to keep—linking that exciting moment when I read the words “Journalism With a Happy Touch.”
