Essay – World Population Day

World Population Day is celebrated on 11th July every year. It was started by the United Nations in 1989 to raise awareness about the problems caused by the increasing population of the world. The population of our planet is growing very fast. Today, there are more than 8 billion people on Earth! That’s a huge number and it keeps going up every second. I think about our huge, huge family living on one planet. It’s like a giant party with more and more people joining every day!

Our planet has a limited amount of things, like fresh water, clean air and food. When the population grows too quickly, it leads to many problems. Cities get overcrowded and schools and hospitals become full. It also becomes difficult for the government to provide good services to all the people. This can make life hard, especially for poor families. This is why World Population Day is so important. It reminds us to be careful and share our resources wisely. We need to think about how we can make sure everyone has what they need to live a happy and healthy life.

Another big problem is that overpopulation affects nature. More people means more pollution, more garbage and more cutting down of trees for homes and buildings. This harms animals and plants and leads to climate change. If we are not careful, our planet might not be able to support all the people living on it.

This day also teaches us about other important things, like how every person has the right to be healthy and educated. It’s about making sure girls and boys have the same chances to learn and grow. It also talks about family planning, which means people can choose when to have children and how many they want. This helps families be healthy and happy and gives parents more time to care for each child.

As children, we also have a role to play. We can learn about the environment, save resources like water and electricity and tell others to do the same. If each one of us becomes more aware, we can help build a better world.
